Program Description

Our program follows the basic standards for residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology as published and approved by the American Osteopathic Association. Our program is affiliated with the Association of Postgraduate Physician Assistant Programs (APPAP.)

The Obstetrics and Gynecology Physician Assistant Residency program at Riverside and Arrowhead Regional Medical Centers is an intensive clinical and didactic training experience. This is a full time twelve month program requiring 60-80 hours per week of clinical, operative and labor and delivery based work with an integrated lecture series.

The didactic portion of the curriculum consists of lectures, small group sessions and self-directed learning. The clinical portion of the curriculum consists of training in the obstetrics and gynecology clinics, as well as performing vaginal deliveries and repairs, first-assisting in cesarean sections and gynecological surgeries, and performing colposcopies and other common gynecological outpatient procedures.

 Students

Please note that incomplete applications will be accepted and interviews may be scheduled before a student graduates or has taken the PANCE exam. However, start dates for accepted applicants into the residency will not be set until all qualifications are met. Please contact me directly @ (909) 580-6320 if you have questions on submitting an application as a student. Students may send in any of the entry requirements they have at that time. This gives us adequate time to schedule you for interviews and plan on a start date as soon as possible after obtaining your California Licensure. I recommend having your application submitted three months prior to graduation.

                                              Interviews

Interviews are normally scheduled once complete applications are received, however please note that incomplete applications will be accepted and interviews may be scheduled pending only, graduation or board testing. Members of the faculty, as well as a resident representative conduct interviews. In most cases, the interview process takes place over a half day to allow applicants to meet with various members of our faculty and residency, as well as tour the facility. We believe that it is important for the prospective resident to meet as many of the current residents as possible to understand their perspective as well as to determine if the prospective candidate is comfortable with our program philosophy. There is no bias with regard to race, sex, age, demographics, disability, sexual orientation or religion.

Resident Selection Process

The selection process is designed to be consistent and fair and based on academic achievement, personal interviews, dedication to Women’s Health, and letters of recommendation as well as review of evaluations from clinical sites through which the candidate has rotated.

Once the application is submitted and an interview has been completed, the candidate will be advised of the status of their application.
